BLKHLTH (2025)

Web Design & Development

Co-Founder and Director of Creative and Communications, Paulah Wheeler, approached me for a refresh of BLKHLTH's website in 2025. BLKHLTH is a non-profit organisation dedicated to bridging the gap between Black communities and accessible, equitable healthcare.

The design challenge was to create a digital home that houses BLKHLTH's dynamic range of vital resources and advocacy interventions. The organisation's community is vibrant and energetic. We had to establish a visual language that centre's joy, hope and healing without minimising the devastating reality of systemic inequality.

The landing page is black featuring a chrome cursor tailed by a purple gradient, elucidating the project's central visual narrative of navigating uncertainty with hope.

Our use of Neue Haas Grotesk Medium is inspired by way-finding systems found in transportation terminals like subway stations and airports, illustrating BLKHLTH's role as a resourceful guide helping it's audience navigate complex systems.

We've paired the Swiss font with the strong and confrontational Owners Narrow Bold, characteristic of struggle and liberation movement visual conventions.
